Meet the wonderful Klavdija from Slovenia! Our curly girl found it hard to learn about her curls as in her small country, not many people have curls! She took it upon herself to learn more and educate more people through her instagram page. Not all heroes wear capes. They're curly and called Klavdija!

The Journey

What inspired you to return natural?

I am a girl from a small country in Central Europe called Slovenia. I used to have quite beautiful curls when I was younger, but then after a lot of bleach damage and colouring them over and over again they just turned into a huge frizzy and damaged mess. I lived with my hair in that condition for quite a while and then I discovered the curly girl method in one of the forums. At first I thought it was a joke when I was read that girls were "washing" their hair with conditioner only. But then I started to investigate and I found out that the curly girl method was the real deal that was followed by hundreds and hundreds of curly people.

So I slowly started with some drug store products to see how things would work for me and then the big chop followed as well because when you have so much damage there is no way you can fix it... And only cutting it all off can help. I must say that it was so releasing. My curls were slowly coming back. When I switched drugstore products for more higher quality ones I noticed the biggest change in my curls. One of the brands on the way was also Flora & Curl which was love at first use.

What were the challenges (if any) along the way of your healthy hair journey?

There were quite some challenges along my healthy hair journey. The first thing was my location. Here you can barely find any proper products in drugstores because we are somehow the last on the list to get anything over here. And you can only dream about more high-end brands. The second thing is that the curly community over here is pretty small and there is not really a lot of curlies you can get any help or support from... Well, that's at least how it's been for a couple of years and when I started my journey. That is why I started looking for international online shops and I even created my Instagram account so I could share my knowledge and help other curlies that might be going through same things as I was going trough.

What is your number 1 curl tip?

Don't buy products based on your curl type because curl type doesn't matter. What matters is hair porosity and hair thickness. And the second one would be... if something works for my hair it doesn't mean it will work for your hair and vice versa.

Discovering Flora & Curl

What made you buy Flora & Curl products? How did you hear about us?

I actually saw a great deal for Flora and Curl gel on Lookfantastic and I bought it right away. And I really loved the Sweet Hibiscus Curl Defining Gel because it gave my hair a lot of moisture without weighing down my hair. After that I started discovering Flora & Curl products online and watched other curlies tutorials and reviews which made me buy the Sweet Hibiscus Curl Activating Lotion and later on the Sweet Hibiscus Curl Volumizing Foam as well :D

How did you see your hair change after using Flora & Curl products?

Well, after incorporating the Sweet Hibiscus Curl Activating Lotion into my routine I noticed my curls were so much more defined then before. Also, this lotion gave me just enough slip to style my hair before putting any gel on top. When incorporating the Sweet Hibiscus Curl Volumizing Foam into my routine my curls improved even more. The Sweet Hibiscus Curl Volumizing Foam gave me even more definition, volume and incredible shine!

Which Flora & Curl product is your favourite and why?

My absolute favourite Flora & Curl product is the Sweet Hibiscus Curl Volumizing Foam and I am raving about this foam all the time. I think there hasn't been a single washday since I bought my first bottle where I wouldn't use it. I am on my second bottle now and I think there will be many more as well :D This Foam gives me incredible definition and shine and makes my hair so voluminous! I can use it as a single styler or in combination with some other products. It also works great for refreshes! This is absolutely my holy grail!

What is your current Flora & Curl haircare routine?

For now I only have the styling products from Flora & Curl but I hope that will change soon. So for styling I always use the Sweet Hibiscus Curl Activating Lotion followed by the Sweet Hibiscus Curl Volumizing foam. I always put the lotion on my soaking wet hair and then add some of the foam on the soaking wet hair as well. After micro-plopping I add some more foam and then I diffuse. Sometimes I use gel before the foam and some more gel after micro-plopping... So I do gel, foam, gel method.

What sets Flora & Curl apart from other brands/products on the market? 

I love how Flora & Curl uses only natural ingredients. The gel for example is full of natural film forming humectants which I really love. I also love the story behind the brand and how they really make each customer feel special.
