Meet Tiina from Tampere in Finland! At 59 years young, Tiina realises that showing her true self is important. That means embracing those glorious greys and beautiful curls.
What inspired you to return natural?
Hello! My name is Tiina and I’m 59 years old. I am a university lecturer and I teach drama students, yoga and I also work as a conductor and actor in a playback theatre company called Vox.
I live in Tampere, Finland and I have followed the Curly Girl Method for 1.5 years now. I cut my hair short because I wanted to stop dyeing my hair and wanted to let my grey hair come out. The Curly Girl method gradually brought my natural curls back. Now my hair has its natural grey colour and it’s long and curly.
At this age, showing my true self is important and also easier than when I was young. I don’t care so much what other people think of me and the way I look. I like my wild hair even if sometimes it looks frizzy and untamed because that’s me. Although the methods felt complicated in the beginning, it actually turned out to be easier when I found the Flora & Curl products. They really make my curls feel soft and look nice. I don’t want to use a lot of time to make my hair look good. I’m too busy with my work which I like a lot and doing more interesting things than that.
What were the challenges (if any) along the way of your healthy hair journey?
I first had difficulties finding suitable products. Also, the Curly Girl Method felt complicated and time-consuming. My hair gets easily frizzy and the curls don’t stay after wash day. The cold weather in Finland also is challenging for the hair. Now I have learned to project and refresh my hair.
What is your number 1 curl tip?
Refresh with water, Hair Mist and Gel. Otherwise, my curls don’t stay.
What made you buy Flora & Curl products? How did you hear about us?
I ordered Mini Essentials Curl Kit from a Finnish Curly Girl shop. I heard about you from a Finnish Curly Facebook group.
How did you see your hair change after using Flora & Curl products?
Very soft and nicely defined curls.
Which Flora & Curl product is your favourite and why?
Sweet Hibiscus Curl Defining Gel is light and doesn’t weigh the hair down. It creates well-defined and soft curls.
What is your current Flora & Curl haircare routine?
Rose Water Cream Shampoo and the Rose Water Cream Conditioner, then I shortly plop with Sweet Hibiscus Curl Activating Lotion and then air dry with the Sweet Hibiscus Curl Defining Gel. I refresh with the Rose Water Curl Mist and with the Sweet Hibiscus Curl Defining Gel I have not yet tried the other products from Flora & Curl, but I would like to.
What sets Flora & Curl apart from other brands/products on the market?
I love the scent and my hair feels softer and more natural. I don't get these results when I use other products. I don’t have to use a lot of the F&C products to get good results.
